Daniel Glattauer for DieZeit

In July in 2026 I had the pleasure to photograph the famous and successful Austrian writer Daniel Glattauer for a cover story in DieZeit. Daniel’s novel “Gut gegen Nordwind” debuted 20 Years ago and is since his best selling book, translated in over 40 languages and sold in millions. Even a movie was based on his book, so are numerous plays in theaters. This was the reason enough to convince Daniel for a rare interview, conducted via email.

Daniel welcomed me and my assistant in his home in Vienna and though I was a little nervous, Daniel was absolutely charming and welcoming and free of any attitude whatsoever. Writers are usually rather shy and fugitive but we instantly liked each other (I hope so for his part) and we not only shot a couple of portraits in front of a paper background in his backyard but also in his very private rooms.

As it happenes quite some times, DieZeit published a handful of my favorites on the cover and in and around the interview.
